Buffalo Sabres Lose Assistant Coach Vinny Prospal to Blues

The Buffalo Sabres have lost assistant coach Vinny Prospal, who has joined the St. Louis Blues' coaching staff. Prospal spent the last three seasons with the Sabres' AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, where he played a crucial role in developing young forwards like Konsta Helenius, Jiri Kulich, and Noah Ostlund. His departure marks the first NHL coaching position for Prospal, who had a notable 16-year playing career in the NHL, scoring 255 goals and accumulating 765 points in 1,108 games before retiring after the 2012-13 season. The coaching shakeup comes as the Blues look to revamp their staff, having also added Greg Cronin, the former head coach of the Anaheim Ducks. This change follows the decision not to renew contracts for previous assistants, including former Sabres defenseman Mike Weber. The Buffalo Sabres will now need to adjust their coaching strategy as they prepare for the upcoming season without Prospal's expertise.
